LMS Evaluation Archive
The following information was provided during the evaluation stage of the LMS project and is being maintained here for archival purposes.
Project Scope and Goals
The Learning Management System (LMS) is a vital tool for supporting the academic programs and the user experience of faculty and students.
The LMS project is meant to evaluate Dickinson's current LMS, Moodle, which has been in use since 2010. While we recognize there was a small pilot of another LMS in 2018, it was not a full evaluation looking at multiple options. It’s been six years since a small evaluation was done and 14 years since a large implementation was done. As such, we are certainly due for an assessment of Moodle and our other options to ensure suitability and sustainability for the next 7-10 years.
Project Goals
- Ensure we use the best LMS available to us to support the needs and aspirations of academic programs now and 7-10 years from now.
- Ensure we use the best LMS to deliver a user-friendly experience for our faculty and students now and 7-10 years from now.
- Ensure ITS and its partners can provide the highest level of support for students, faculty and staff using the LMS.
