Through April 15: A British Sentiment: Landscape Drawings and Watercolors

This exhibition considers the historical, social and artistic context of the rise and popularity of landscape drawing and watercolor painting in Britain from the late 18th century to the early 20th century. It is co-curated by senior art history majors Olivia Falcey, Caroline Fallon, Christopher Guy, Xiaoqi “Nicole” Huang, Taylor Hunkins, Claire Paulsen, Joelle Paull, Sophie Weinstein, Alexia Tobash and Jackson Zyontz. Works are from the Collection of John Harbold P’07.

Sylvia J. Smith ’73 Artist-in-Residence Shoshannah White will spend six weeks on campus this spring, working in photography and installation. Her exhibition will highlight work produced during her residency.
Through Oct. 7: Käthe Kollwitz: The Bauernkrieg/Peasant War Cycle

From 1903 to 1908, Käthe Kollwitz produced Baurenkrieg (Peasant War), a seven-print series that reveals the brutal treatment of peasants in 16th-century Germany, their rise to revolution and battle and their subsequent humiliation and death. Although based on historic events, the series anticipates tragedies that soon took shape across Europe. This exhibition is curated by German major Courtney Rogers ’17.

During her residency, renowned performance artist Eiko Otake will bring her new solo project, A Body in Places, to several unexpected sites, engage students and faculty from different disciplines and “occupy” campus for a magical week of immersion in new ways of seeing. Co-sponsored by the Clarke Forum for Contemporary Issues and the Department of Theatre & Dance.

Student choreographers collaborate with Dickinson's student dance company, the Dance Theatre Group (DTG), to present an evening of new choreographic research, on and off the Mathers stage. Included in the show will be capstone dance projects by seniors Alyssa Giordano ’17 and Christine Merolla ’17. DTG is under the direction of Sarah Skaggs, director of the dance program, with assistance from Erin Crawley-Woods, visiting assistant professor of dance.

The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Orchestra (Robert Pound, director) and Jazz Ensemble (Jeffrey Wohlbach, director) will present a spring concert featuring Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9, “New World;” a performance by soprano Sara Tillett ’17, winner of the Concerto Competition; and a selection of jazz standards.
