Students wanting to study French overseas may do so in Toulouse, France, Yaoundé, Cameroon, and/or Rabat, Morocco. Coursework in these programs will count towards the French and Francophone studies major and minor, as well as many other majors and minors.

Dickinson in France
The Dickinson-in-France program gives students the opportunity to live and study in Toulouse, France’s fourth largest city and one of its most youthful cities due to the vibrant student population. In addition to taking courses at the Dickinson Center that focus on the development of intercultural competence, participants study in their chosen discipline at one of five local universities. While in Toulouse, students live in home-stay families or in apartments, enjoy academic excursions to sites of regional and national interest, complete a service-learning project, and may undertake internships in various fields thanks to our established professional network. Dickinson in Cameroon: Development and Social Change in Partnership with SIT
Dickinson and SIT’s long presence in Yaoundé provides students with the tools to develop an understanding and appreciation of West Africa and of Cameroonian culture and society. Through selected courses in humanities and social sciences with significant fieldwork experiences, a dynamic homestay program, and internship and research opportunities, students become active participants in the local culture and make lasting connections to the people and place. Cameroon is a diverse nation in terms of population and geography. Its 27 million people represent over 130 ethnic groups speaking some 280 languages, and its landscape ranges from sub-Saharan in the North to thick rainforest in the South and Southeast. The Amideast Morocco program attracts students with an interest in Arabic, French, and issues pertinent to North Africa. Morocco is a gateway to Africa and the Arab world, boasting a unique mixture of Middle Eastern, European, and African cultural influences. Rabat is one of Morocco's "imperial cities" and its modern capital. It is home to the leading educational institutions in the country and offers students opportunities to move from the shops and cafes of the "European" city to the winding alleys and exciting markets of the old medina in a few minutes' walk.
